2009 Meffys Award Nomination for TDC PLAY, Powered & Developed by 24-7 Entertainment.
London / Copenhagen, Denmark – TDC PLAY, the renowned Access Model powered and developed by 24-7 Entertainment, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2009 Meffys Mobile Entertainment Awards in the Music Service category.
As the industry´s official benchmark for measuring success and rewarding innovation, the Meffys, now in their sixth year, recognize and honour the most influential mobile entertainment players from around the world. This year, they received entries covering 60+ countries which were judged by 43 journalists and analysts.

TDC, a leading provider of communications solutions in the Nordic region made history in 2008 with the launch of TDC PLAY, by offering an unlimited music download service to their mobile, broadband and cable customers at no additional cost.
The service features access to 3 million tracks, dual delivery to mobile and broadband accounts, sideloading (to enable large quantities of music to be transferred efficiently via PC and then to mobile) and the 1st legal superdistribution service on the market to use OMA1. Since TDC PLAY is a web and wap download service, it is compatible with all PC internet browsers and all music enabled handsets, thereby enabling significant penetration into the market.
Within 1 year of the launch, more than 70 million tracks were downloaded via TDC PLAY and the churn rate was reduced significantly among active TDC PLAY users. Finally, as an added bonus, TDC PLAY helped to double the legal digital music consumption in Denmark according to IFPI stats.
