"There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls." - Howard Thurman

Weathering over two decades of various incarnations in the Radio Broadcast Industry increased my desire to explore and offer access and awareness about others who have unique, inspiring and unusual world views. A personal, spiritually transcendent, metaphysical encounter with nightlights shifted my world view in 1997 and, consequently, altered my life course in the Broadcast Industry.

Given the internet now offers greater access and opportunity; I eventually redirected my interview dynamic to incorporate writing and blogging and from traditional broadcast outlets to internet pod/talkcasting.

I started a trial internet show in January 08 but wanted to draw upon both mainstream and metaphysical topics and showcase that by including interviews. Opportunity knocked and a woman who set me up with an interview six months earlier (Sandy Jorgensen) enthusiastically agreed to sign on for Conscious Living on Talk Shoe.

Allowing for fine-tuning and choosing to learn as we grew, we let the focus develop itself. The result is awesome. There is nothing polished or canned about the presentation. It is very relaxed, non-broadcast quality, and totally lacking in "edge" but it seems to be gathering a following.

The two segments that are totally off the charts at this point feature Remote Viewer Joe McMoneagle, who, along with his wife Nancy, has created a mind-blowing (and somewhat controversial) life history, for which he is certainly up to the challenge - and Medical Intuitive Eva Herr; for whom a near-death event triggered an uncanny medical ability.

The life stories of the three are simply amazing. But there are other wonderful interviewees. Artist Jerry Wennstrom destroyed his life's work to start anew. The unfolding drama and spiritual metamorphosis as a result of that process, fortunately, is captured (Serendipity in action.) in a documentary being filmed at the time and is available for viewing on You Tube.

Child prodigy Akiane, is another fascinating find. Her artwork is awe-inspiring, even moreso is the source of her inspiration.

The show technique and the sound content continue to improve. Technical problems aside, we have had the great fortune to find some excellent guests. And the list continues to blossom.

Turns out digital doesn´t work very well for me in this venue. For whatever reason, my phone level was too low. After months of trying to fix the level – we switched from digital to cell and the trouble evaporated.

Sandy and I are still working out logistics on how to best present our content and setting up more interviews; but I realized after the segment with Medical Intuitive Eva Herr that I really need to focus more on those things that I am being drawn to now that I am out of the mold of traditional broadcast radio and more in tune with my own intuitive sense of the world.

What we can physically see is really a very small part of our reality. When we learn to use our other sense abilities, we discover there are still new universes to explore. How miracles happen and the unseen works is still a mystery. The product of that mystery taps us on the shoulder each and every day in guises too numerous to mention, asking: "Can you see me?"

My life focus shifted dramatically after the nightlight encounter (re: Talking to Nightlights) and those topics that hold my interest shifted as well. The big phobia about writing a book on the whole life-altering metaphysical experience had to do with worrying about employment. I have addressed that... Fence sitting can get awkward after a time. While novel and entertaining on most days, it wasn't very practical over the long haul and even worse - it was dull. I missed the content, engaging connections and variety of fascinating people I encountered regularly while going about my daily research in scheduling and preparing for broadcast interviews.

So - I will incorporate more of the metaphysical and spiritual topics that I kept separate during my broadcast career into the whole of the presentations and the topics. After all, that is how Sandy and I met in the first place. And the world has a great abundance of novelty and mystery.

Thank you to those who have found us, for your interest and for listening to Conscious Living on Talk Shoe. We very much appreciate the feedback (and the downloads!). I am curious about others who have undergone those same unexplainable, metaphysical, spiritual life shifts and awakenings but - for now - we are following the tug of curiosity for: 1/uplifting quirky, 2/metaphysical, and 3/the gamut of things novel and unexplained.

Dr. Oliver Sacks, Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, includes a story about a man who had an amazing metamorphosis after a near death encounter. Dr. Anthony Cicoria made a complete life overhaul after being struck by lightening. He started hearing music…

My overhaul was far less dramatic; possibly because it was a conscious overhaul, triggered by a nightlight. However, overhauls, no matter what the trigger, leave no stone unturned. I empathize with that process.

The story on Dr. Anthony Cicoria ran in The New Yorker. And an interview aired on NPR.

An interview with Dr. Sacks features that topic on You Tube:

Be it lightening or nightlights, I can say that encounters with light have the potential to be both electrifying and illuminating.
